LOve blooms in Houston’s neighborhood in Houston. Husbands Joseph Berck and Jaime Gonzalez are the proud owners of handmade beauty products from Bloom, a business that creates and sells natural high -quality skin care products and much more. The couple celebrates operation for six years and positions their business as a space for the community and invites everyone to treat themselves to luxury products that do not break the bank.

The couple met in time in 2012. “We met in a mobile app called Growlr. Joseph took the first step. He sent me a message in which I knew that he wanted to extinguish the app and I was able to write him an SMS if I were interested, ”says Gonzalez. “So I did it and the rest is history. We have been together for over 12 years. “

After the couple was initially connected to the Big Apple, he could not resist the call from H-Town. “Joseph originally comes from Houston and lived in New York City to work. After three years he was ready for a change of landscape after enduring the hard winter in New York, ”explains Gonzalez. “He initially considered moving to another coastal state like Florida or California.” Gonzalez, a New Yorker from the Bronx, had grown Houston on visits to see the von Berck family, who affected their decision, to plant roots in the city of Bayou. “I appreciated Houston’s slower pace, greeted people, delicious food and his unique charm and a big city with a small town feeling.”

After the couple moved to Houston, he went to his next company. “Bloom started as my vision. With over 15 years of experience in the beauty industry and a deep passion for natural, clean beauty, I was always an advocate for small companies, ”explains Berck. “I loved supporting them at pop-up events and farmers and collecting products from local providers whenever I could.” After Berck had worked with a large retailer with a program that made it possible for small companies to sell their products in their shops, he thought about the fate of these small companies when the program was hired.

“Then the idea for Bloom, a room in which these shops could thrive, was born,” says Berck. “The first vision was to help other small companies bloom, and after we open and hear directly from our customers, we felt inspired to create our own products. We started with our turmeric facial laundry and over time expanded our line with soap, body care, skin care as well as candles and fragrances.

The couple each carries several hats that have teamed up to make the success it is today. “Among other things, I supervise product management and the development of products and sales of providers and pop-up market,” says Berck. “Jaime leads the shop front, takes over the creative side that design product labels, develop social media content and manage our online presence. He also monitors the back-end tasks for the shop. Together we bloom a real reflection of our common passion for the support of small companies and offer our community high -quality, handmade products. “

Customers are happy to buy the handmade beauty products – soaps, skin care, candles, body oils, lotions, lip balm and peel -peeling. “Our products come from local craftsmen and small companies that share our commitment to natural, high -quality ingredients,” says Gonzalez. “We also act many of our articles in our shop and ensure that every product is made with care and attention to detail.”

In the heart of Bloom, the couple’s commitment to their east -end community and the LGBTQ community stands. “As an open gay couple, it was heartwarming to experience the positive effects, to be open about who we are. It has the opportunity to get in touch with people at a more personal level and to present inclusion and pride in a way that feels authentic, ”says Berck. “The support and love we received from our community inspires us every day to bloom a inviting room for everyone.”

The leap to collaboration as a couple was a brave step for the duo, but one who paid off personally and professionally. “For a couple who thinks about going into business together, my greatest advice is to keep the lines of communication open. Make sure you both understand the needs and roles of the other. This helps to avoid misunderstandings, ”says Berckk. “It is also important to draw a clear border between work and private life so that they do not bring stress home,” added Gonzalez. “Play each other and support each other, especially when things become difficult.
